OPPOSITIONS ABUSED THE DEAD. LET TEOH REST IN PEACE.

BY : PEMIKIR - MM

The police is conducting an intensive investigation on the case of Teoh, the political secretary of exco (DAP) Selangor. Reports found in local newpapers and internet, including, Malaysian mirror.com, revealed that the police would be completing its search for truth in due course. The public is asked to be patient and not emotive to allow justice to take place. Generally, the public and especially, the family of Teoh, are confident on the present action by the police.

The oppositions, without being investigative, is taking a simple route out by hitting the government and MACC for causing the death of Teoh. Indeed, this is a favourite and shoddy way by the oppositions on any issue affecting the government. It is a populist approach which is self-centred and therefore, fits well in their myopic mental frame.

If Teoh had performed his job well as a political secretary, he should be able to face simple and big challenges, including, withstanding any form of questionings posed by MACC. It is normal and routine for MACC officals to be thorough in their investigations. In the past, several people had gone through this kind of process and yet they walked out freely after that. Why?. It was because they were cooperating and telling the truth. There is no necessity at all for these people to 'jump into a river'.

Family of Teoh in Taman Seri Kelemak, Alor Gajah, Malacca,is confident that the police will do its best to get to the bottom of this case. The oppositions should respect the position of this family. Unfortunately, they are taking advantage of this episode to promote themselves and this saddens the public. To make it worse, they are pressuring the government to set up a Royal Commision on this. Everyone knows, what they are doing is politically motivated with short-term agenda, including to incite public anger and hatred towards government and its leaders.

Political observers felt that the oppositions should exercise restraint and highest respect for the deceased. They should support the call by the new media, esp Malaysian mirror.com, to allow Teoh Beng Hock to rest in peace. The Selangor Goverment should find a suitable successor to Teoh as soon as possible and concentrate on day-to-day development for the good of the people. YAB PM had conveyed his condolences to the family of Teoh and the government had assured the family that it would investigate the cause of death and the result be made public.
